Ruth Reid has had her claim for unfair dismissal, sexual discrimination and breach of contract rejected and thrown out by the tribunal. The basis of rejecting the claim is that the time period for making a claim has been exceeded.
A surprising result because I would not have expected reid to make such a basic mistake!
And this was the only claim that I had expected reid to win! Although reid could win his claim, my view is that he would not be awarded more that the £500K apparantly offered earlier in an out of court settlement by peniel.

Date on which reid has to answer bail has been changed again, new date is 6th February. The date on which the employment tribunal reports back is early February.

Further details have come from the employment tribunal case, which was held in public. The case was covered by a news agency.
A third woman, unidentified at this time, claimed to have had an affair with Reid. Reid does deny that this affair took place, he also denies the affair with the woman who came forward on Monday.

The tribunal was told of an event in 2007 when a number of boys from the school 'made allegations against Reid'. Social services, Ofstead and the police were involved. The details of these allegations were not given.

Reid was given a warning at one stage in the proceedings for allegedly threatening a witness.

Reid also claims that he stood down when the first affair became public on the expectation that he would be reinstated a few weeks later.

It does appear thar Reid misjudged the response of the members of the church in that he assumed that they would support him. However during the time Reid was away the church members turned against him and the board had no option but to follow the wishes of the members and reid was not reinstated.

Reid made one statement that is probably not going to be part of the considerations of the tribunal, but was significant to many in the church. What he said was 'He did not know that the church statement of faith referred to the sanctity of marriage'. A strange statement for someone who always claimed to know the Bible inside out!!

(King James Version - because reid always used this version!)

One other point relevant to the case was reported by the Gazette in September 2008. The paper reported then that an offer of £500K has been offered to both michael reid and his wife as a settlement and that they had rejected the offer. It is difficult to see the tribunal offerring more than this, but we shall see.

A report on the first day of the tribunal hearing Michael Reid's claim for unfair dismissal in Docklands, east London.

This first day has been explosive! The tribunal heard that the Peniel church was 'devestated' at the revelation of the orginal affair in April.

A second woman came forward to reveal a 'relationship of ''many years'' with Reid'.

Unfortunately the report in the Mail newspaper also mentions the CCTV debacle, which has done a lot of damage to Christianity and Christian standards w+orld wide!

The Metro newspaper has an article entitled 'Bonking Bishop' held on rape claim'

The rest of the article is similar to the Brentwood Gazette except that it says
'... was arrested on August 27 on suspicion of historical rape ....'

The Brentwood Gazette have printed a front page story on Michael Reid.

They state that reid was arrested on suspicion of 'rape' (quotes from the newspaper article). It is not clear from the wording of the article if Reid was actually charged with any offences. The newspaper says that he was bailed unil November 28th.

I will update the story when I know exactly what the terms used mean.

A Peniel spokesperson is quoted as saying that 'these allegations do not relate to the church in any way'. Although I don't doubt that this is the case, the accusations do relate to a time when reid was running Peniel.

Interesting rumour has surfaced. reid is supposedly due to be evicted shortly from Testimony House (yes, he is still living in the peniel church property!!) It might just be a rumour (wishful thinking possibly!)

reid is operating the http://www.whatgodcandoministries.com website. There are a number of images on this site which were taken at peniel and show the faces of quite a few peniel people.
These pictures are copyrighted '© 2009 WHAT GOD CAN DO MINISTRIES' although they were all taken from Peniel days. I wonder whether those peniel people in these images ae happy to support reid? I personally would not want to give reid and his ministries any credibility whatsover!

reid has started a new ministry 'what God can do ministries' Not very imaginitive, seems to be a copy of the peniel 'what God can do for you' tv programmes.

Quote from website 'if you would like prayer in any area of your life, we are here to support you. Submit your Prayer Request on the prayer request page or contact one of our Ministry staff and our church congregation will stand with you in prayer.'

I wonder what church he is referring to? He doesn't mention a church on the website.

reid does not actually say that he was sacked by peniel church for adultery over many years! Or that he has nothing to do with peniel any more!.
I wonder why he hasn't mentioned these small facts on the website?

This is a man who has now reached retirement age although he refuses to retire. Over the many years that he has been in ministry he has done a lot of damage to many people around the world.

The church that he has mostly been involved in (he set up the church together with one other person) is Peniel Pentecostal Church, which is based in Essex near London. In 2005 it was rebranded as michael reid ministries.

In April 2008 reid was forced to admit to an affair with the choir mistress that had lasted for around eight years. The disclosure came at a time when reid had set up the CCTV organisation to promote traditional family values within the UK. He was publicly and vociferously campaigning for these values, and publicly condemning those whose lives were not based on these values. In particular, he condemned homosexual lifestyles.

It was not a surprise to me that reid could engage in such a public campaign whilst he felt entirely happy to totally disregard these standards as being of any importance in his own life!

Since reid resigned in disgrace from the church, it has changed the name to Peniel Church and is currently trying re-establish itself in what would appear to a genuine attempt to purge the memories of reid and to establish a 'real' church that does not follow in his footsteps.

The 'new peniel' should not be seen as a 'bad' church. Their attempts to establish Peniel as a proper Christian church should be encouraged and they should not now be tarred with the same brush that should be used to cover reid from head to toe!
