There are some anxious people at Peniel!
There are some good signs coming out of peniel at the moment
The main one is that reid is supposedly well out of favour there!.
There is also clearly a lot of misinformation coming from various people.
Whether it is is deliberate or not it is hard to tell!
Several people have reported that reid is expected back in the UK this Wednesday. This is also on the Reachout forum. Where is he coming back to? The house that he has lived in is owned by peniel. It is presumably full of his possessions but surely he cannot live next to the church that he has resigned from!
The Reachout website has many people who are genuinely concerned that he may try to take over control again.

The Reverend Peter Linnecar said: "Bishop Reid has been a servant of this church
for 32 years. We are deeply sorry that this has happened.
He has recognized his sin and taken full responsibility for his actions and resigned.
We believe the gospel of Jesus Christ and that our God is a God of love,
forgiveness and restoration from all sin and we would ask that you pray
for all concerned and respect privacy at this difficult time."

Michael Reid Miseries comment:
Of course the above statement is true.
However it is has not been the practice of michael reid and peniel church over the years.
No love, forgiveness and restoration and been preached by michael reid for those who cross him,
or simply dare to leave peniel.
All sorts of dreadful things have been said about anyone who chooses to leave, even if they then
attend other Christian churches.
The people in peniel were then not allowed to communicate with those who have left,
and most of them were too scared not to comply. Families have been split up, marriages have been split up,
simply because someone leaves peniel.
If the current peniel leadership really has had a genuine change of heart then now is the time
to confess that peniel has behaved in a contemptible, non-Christian way to people who choose to leave.
They should apologise profusely to all the people who have been affected in the past
and prove their change of heart by withdrawing the non-Biblical interpretation of shunning that they have taught.
They should restore the links with the local community and the local churches in Brentwood.
They should rejoin the Evangelical Alliance and become part of the local community.
Otherwise the statement from peniel would just be a hollow, meaningless statement!

What is interesting is that Peniel appears to have reached this crisis without any help from anyone else!
An interview on Premier radio on Tuesday morning put the whole situation into the public domain.
It meant that all the news media picked up on the story and were able to report everything
without fear of being sued. It was a strange thing to do! A basic mistake perhaps? Whatever the cause it has certainly cost the reputation of reid dearly. |

reid has been very condemning of people who fail to live up to God's standards. For the church to announce that he has been in a long-term adulterous relationship whilst condemning other people for their failings would confirm that many of the people opposed to reid are in fact correct in their opposition to him.
Reid is clearly a hypocrite at the very least!

This includes the campaigning group www.thecctv.org!!!!

There are new leaders in the various roles,
but these are mostly the same people who were part of the leadership team under Reid.
I am not sure how much can actually change!

COMMENTS
If this is all correct it is very good news that Michael Reid’s cruel regime is drawing to an end.
The great hypocrisy here is how harshly he has dealt with those who have committed similar misdemeanours in recent years.
I know of some members who have been belittled and slandered from Reid’s pulpit because of their failings.
The sadness here is that many will be hurt as a result of Reid’ actions. His family will be devastated and those who
for years have been close to him must wonder what has hit them. In the fullness of time I hope the church will
recover and with the right guidance it may rejoin the community and become the place that it always could have been.

They will find a huge amount of fascinating information on how michael reid ministries
(used to be known peniel pentecostal church) operates.
For example why they are not part of the Evangelical Alliance and on how they are excluded
from the local Brentwood church group.
There is also a lot of information on the harm that michael reid has inflicted
on many people who were, or still are, in his church. |
