Peniel Academy

Does the academy achieve the expected results?

Peniel Academy has a selected intake

Reid claims that his school is not a selective school. But it clearly is! For a start they do not take children with statements. This simple fact destroys reid's claim that the school is open to all. There are some children with problems in the schools; but the parents have to pay two fees. Apparantly this is due to the increased time and effort that the teachers have to spend on the child.
This would make sense if it wasn't for the fact that most of the teachers were (in our time there) not paid.
reid also selects the children on ability. I know of one youngster who had to pass an entrance exam before being allowed into peniel.

Peniel gets good results for the children taking examinations. But it is not anything special considering the size of the school. All schools with class sizes of less than 10 should achieve good results.
There are other factors coming into play here. One is that peniel is known not to enter children into exams on subjects that they will not do well in. Again I know of a young man whose parents were clearly told that if he didn't better in his work then he would not be allowed to take the exams.
I also have a concern about foreign students being entered into exams on their native language, as a second foreign language. Of course thay are going to pass with flying colours. Is this ethical?

watch this space. a lot more to come.....
