The truth about the Green Court Case against Peniel

I heard michael reid and peter linnecar lie to the congregation that peniel had won the court case brought by Caroline Green. The congregation was clearly told that out of court settlement was a victory for peniel.
We were also specifically told that Caroline Green, who was suing peniel, would receive 'no money for herself at all'. Although she might have been awarded some money, this would all be clawed back to pay her costs. Peniel had won the case - hooray!
This was all a blatent lie. Peniel had settled out of court and taken a huge hit on the costs. Reid went back to court several times on various issues and just added to the overall costs. Peniel paid out anything between £500K to £800K in court costs and compensation, depending upon who one talks to.
Of course it was the church members who paid out, there were secret meetings to raise the money. It would be interesting to know if reid himself contributed anything to the costs! He managed to get himself off the list of plaintiffs on the grounds that he was not a trustee!
Peniel pentecostal church is only a small church. In my opinion the decision to bring the case was a very serious error of judgement by the leadership.
I have seen some of the court papers. Some are now in the public domain.
There was no way that peniel could win this. Even if the case had been not proven or peniel had even won it, the damage to Peniel's reputation would have outweighed any monetary gain.
Peniel settled out of court because they realised too late that they could not afford to lose the case. The precedence would have been set for anyone else in the future to claim against peniel. Perhaps reid had a vision about how many people would be leaving peniel in the next few years!
I found the following quote in a Guardian article. I suspect that her view would now be different!
Anne Brown, a deaconess of the church who acts as its spokesman, denied all Green's claims. She said the church itself had no political links. "We would love to bring this matter before a judge and put it to death," she said. "We are very confident there is no merit whatsoever in these insidious allegations."
