reid frequently preached that all other Christian leaders were fools who were taking their congregations to hell. He had real contempt towards other leaders and showed it continually in what he said.

He was particularly unpleasant and spiteful towards local churches in Brentwood. It is obvious that this was a tactic to control the people who were in peniel. People would not want to leave if they really believed that there were no other Christian churches for them to go to.

He singled out certain ministries for particular abuse. One female minister was accused of running her ministry just to sell clothes to the people who attended her meetings!

On one occasion he described one local minister using vulgar language. True to his nature he later denied that he said what people heard him say. He continued to deny it until a tape recording of him speaking was produced. At that point he blamed the person who recorded what he said!

reid withdrew peniel from the Evangelical Alliance and the local Brentwood local churches group (BADEF). By doing this he was no longer accountable to any organisations.
